Not gonna lie: I'm happy that the Huskies beat Oregon. UW was the very first team that I considered "mine." I was born in Seattle and needed to show a little hometown love growing up in So Cal with all my friends being USC or UCLA fans.
I didn't get to see much this weekend what with work on Saturday and then going to see Black Panther right after. Hope you enjoyed the games! I think it's time to check on what a Ray's Rankings playoff might look like, so let's just jump in.
Top 25
Big movers: Utah, FSU, Oregon, Ok St, UCLA, UW, PSU, NC State. There's a lot to unpack there, but remember that if the teams you beat lose or win, your fortunes are tied to them. Also, if you win and the teams around you win against better competition, you will fall behind.
Playoff Picture
We already know what the top 4 would look like, right? TCU v Clemson and a UGA v Tennessee rematch. Sorry. On to the next option: 8 teams!
My Elite 8 are the Power 5 conference champs, the top Group of 5 team, and 2 at large.
Elite 8
Yeah, it's not perfect but look! Clemson-Tenn and OSU-USC! Better than 4, right? OK, lets get real. 16 is really a minimum for a 131 team league, yeah?
Sweet 16
I feel like we have some friggin AWESOME matchups here! ND playing some darned good football right now heads to Texas to meet TCU. UM goes to Athens to see if they're for real. USC and Oregon heading across the country to match up with some tough teams and crowds. Texas-Bama, OkSt-Tenn, FSU-OSU all fun games.
This isn't as difficult as all the talking heads are making it out to be. First thing: 10 game seasons. Period. You can leave open dates for not maing the playoff and schedule fun games then. 8 conference games, period. NO FCS schools (if you schedule one you're automatically eliminated from contention). First 2 rounds are home games. NO VOTING. I like my system best, but it doesn't have to be that. We can take Massey's composite, remove all the voted polls, and go with that.
Thoughts?
